AI Platform Hugging Face Breached by an Autonomous AI Agent
Hugging Face, one of the world's most widely used platforms for sharing AI models, has disclosed that attackers used an autonomous AI agent, a system capable of planning and carrying out tasks with little human input, to breach part of its production systems. The company said the intrusion was, in its words, driven end to end by the AI agent rather than a human operator manually working through each step, which it believes makes the incident one of the first fully documented cases of an AI system independently carrying out a cyberattack from start to finish.
Over a single weekend, the attacking system uploaded a booby trapped dataset, found and exploited a weakness in how Hugging Face processes uploaded data, then used the access it gained to collect cloud credentials and move between parts of the company's internal systems, carrying out tens of thousands of individual actions in the process. Hugging Face said it has found no evidence that public models or datasets used by its customers were tampered with, and has closed the vulnerabilities involved, though it is still confirming whether any partner or customer data was affected.

This incident shows that the tools available to attackers are keeping pace with, and in some cases now match, the tools available to defenders, which means relying on traditional, purely human led monitoring is likely to leave gaps. Data Breach at AI Music Platform Suno Exposes 55 Million Users
A cyberattack on Suno, one of the most popular AI powered music generation platforms, exposed the personal details of more than 55 million users, according to the breach notification service Have I Been Pwned, which obtained a copy of the stolen data. The breach actually happened in November last year but has only now come to light, after the attacker shared the information with a journalist. The stolen data includes email addresses, names, phone numbers, physical addresses and partial payment card details taken from the company's payment records.
The stolen material also included parts of Suno's internal programming code, which appears to confirm long standing allegations from music labels that the company trained its AI on a large volume of copyrighted songs and lyrics scraped from popular streaming and lyrics websites without permission. Suno has said the exposed code was outdated and no longer in use, and maintains it does not have access to customers' full card numbers. The company has not directly notified affected users, and it remains unclear why the breach was not disclosed publicly at the time it happened.
Action Required
An eight month gap between a breach happening and the public finding out is a reminder that fast growing technology companies do not always have breach response practices that match the scale of the personal data they hold. Anyone who has used Suno should check whether their details appear in the breach through a reputable notification service and consider updating passwords used on the platform, particularly if reused elsewhere, while businesses evaluating AI vendors should ask directly about past incidents rather than assuming none have occurred.
Hacker Wipes Romania's Land Registry Database, Bringing Property Market to a Standstill
A hacker breached Romania's national land registry agency and deleted its entire database after an attempt to extort the organisation failed, halting property transactions across the country. The attack, which struck the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising, has left notaries unable to authenticate property sales, register mortgages or issue the paperwork buyers and sellers need to complete a transaction, in a country where between 150,000 and 170,000 homes typically change hands each year.
Officials say offline backups of the data exist and are being used to rebuild the system, though full recovery is expected to take some time. The attacker, using the online alias ByteToBreach and identified by researchers as an individual based in Algeria, is reported to have previously breached Sweden's government services in a similar manner. The timing is especially awkward for Romanian buyers, since the disruption comes just weeks before a planned rise in property sales tax, leaving many transactions stuck in limbo.

Oil Prices Extend Gains as Trump Threatens Wider Strikes on Iran
Oil prices climbed for a fourth consecutive day this week after President Trump played down the prospect of near term talks with Iran and threatened broader military strikes, extending a period of instability that has already pushed prices to their highest level in a month.
