Hacker Claims Theft of Millions of Employee Records From McDonald's, Vodafone and Other Global Brands
A cybercriminal using the alias TheHatman claims to have stolen millions of employee records from at least nine major global companies, including more than one and a half million from McDonald's, around eight hundred thousand from Tata Consultancy Services, and roughly four hundred and twenty five thousand from Vodafone, by using stolen login details to access their cloud computing accounts. Researchers say the stolen data appears to be genuine, containing names, job titles, phone numbers and details of internal reporting structures drawn from the companies' cloud directories.
Security researchers believe the attacker gained access not through a flaw in the cloud platform itself, but by using credentials and login cookies stolen from individual employees' computers through separate malware infections, then using those details to sign in as legitimate users. Because only very large, well known companies appear to have been affected so far, researchers say the campaign looks like a targeted effort to profit from selling the stolen employee directories, which can be used to craft convincing phishing and impersonation attacks against staff at the affected firms.

Poland Investigates Theft of Medical Data Belonging to Nearly Nineteen Million Citizens
