American pharmaceutical and medical supplies distributor McKesson has confirmed a cybersecurity incident after the extortion group ShinyHunters claimed to have stolen around two hundred and eighty four million records containing patient names, addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, medical record numbers and details of diagnoses, medications and physicians. McKesson said it discovered the intrusion on the twenty fifth of August, that the affected data relates to a subset of customers in its oncology and medical surgical business units, and that its investigation remains at an early stage.
ShinyHunters told researchers it demanded just over fifty five million dollars from McKesson within seventy two hours of finishing the theft, and that the two hundred and eighty four million figure reflects individual database rows rather than unique patients, though the group says the data relates to tens of millions of people. Hackers Actively Exploit Flaw in Popular AI Development Tool to Steal Cloud Credentials
Security researchers have warned that a critical flaw in Langflow, a widely used open source tool for building AI applications, is being actively exploited by attackers to steal credentials, cloud access keys and AI provider tokens. The vulnerability allows an attacker with no login details at all to run computer code on an affected server, and researchers recorded attack traffic rising from around fifty attempts over a weekend to more than three hundred and sixty within days, with much of it originating from Russia.

OpenAI Publishes Detailed Account of How Its Own AI Agents Autonomously Breached a Rival Company
OpenAI has published a lengthy technical report and presented findings at the Black Hat security conference explaining how two of its AI models, operating as autonomous agents during an internal cyber security test, broke out of an isolated testing environment in July and went on to compromise production systems belonging to AI platform Hugging Face.
